Congratulations to Nicole R. Fleetwood, associate professor in the Department of American Studies, for being awarded the 2012 American Studies Association Lora Romero First Book Publication Prize for her book Troubling Vision: Performance, Visuality, and Blackness.

Cinema Studies is delighted to welcome a new faculty member to the program, Professor Rhiannon Noel Welch, a specialist in Italian literature and post-war Italian cinema.

Congratulations to Cinema Studies Professor Sandy Flitterman-Lewis, who received the Prize for Best Research on a DVD from the Cinema Ritrovato di Bologna Festival for her collaborative work on a 40-minute bonus feature contextualizing the Surrealist film,The Seashell and the Clergyman.

Non-Western World Cinema Tenure-Track Job Opening

 

The School of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University is seeking an Assistant Professor (tenure track) of
non-Western world cinema. The geographical, historical and theoretical parameters of specialization are
open, though priority will be given to candidates whose research and teaching profiles complement our
existing strengths in the filmmaking of Europe and the Americas. Teaching and research responsibilities
will be distributed between the Programs in Cinema Studies and Comparative Literature, and a home
department to be determined based on the successful candidate’s particular field(s) of expertise.
Candidates must have the Ph.D. in hand by the time employment begins.
