Speaker: Getrud Koch

Professor Gertrud Koch teaches Cinema Studies at The Free University Berlin and Brown University. A leading scholar of cinema, she has published influential books on Herbert Marcuse and Siegried Kracauer, feministy film theory, cinematic illusion, and aesthetic theory. Her lecture will introduce her newest work, Die Wiederkehr der Illusion: Der Film und die Kunst der Gegenwart (The Return of Illusion: Film and Contemporary Art) forthcoming with Suhrkamp Verlag.

This program is funded by a generous annual gift from Mrs. Lillian Rodig Maxwell, in memory of her brother, Dr. Oscar R. Rodig, Jr. R51, who studied Chemistry and German at Rutgers College, and in memory of her sister, Erika Rodig Rosera D62, who studied History and German at Douglass College.
