Jericho (a.k.a. Dark Sands; UK, 1937; directed by Thornton Freeland). Robeson's title character is a medical student who is drafted to serve on a warship in WWI. He is court-martialed after his measures to save a number of men who are trapped on the sinking ship result in the death of a superior. Managing to flee to North Africa, Jericho Jackson is welcomed into a nomadic Tuareg community. The wonderful desert scenes of the film were shot in Egypt. 75 min.
