Joe McElhaney "When a German Walks: Weimar, Hollywood, & Beyond"

Joe McElhaney is a Professor at the City University of New York, The Graduate Center. He earned his PhD in Cinema Studies from New York University. He has authored numerous books and articles including “The Death of Classical Cinema: Hitchcock, Lang, Minnelli” and “Howard Hawks: American Gesture”. In addition, some of his edited volumes include “Preston Sturges and the Speed of Language” (Cinema and Modernity/Rutgers University Press), “Little Soldiers of the New Frontier: American Movies in 1963” (The 1960s: Themes and Variations/Rutgers University Press), and “Walking a Straight Line: Fassbinder and Martha” (A Companion to Rainer Werner Fassbiner/Blackwell). Professor McElhaney is currently working on a book on the human figure in cinema.
